This was a first visit. The building is chocolate box both inside and out. It is actually a bit of a tardis as the restaurant is larger than I was expecting. The room was beautifully decorated for Christmas. So far so good. From the greeting from concierge through to our designated waiter all the staff were friendly and approachable. Another tick. Because of the time of year it was a set festive menu which offered both choice and value. Tick! The downside was the cost of the drinks. Whilst we were expecting them to be higher than a normal pub we were not expecting x3! The cheapest bottle of wine was a bottle of pinot at 32.50! When we perused the a la carte the choices were interesting but you would need to budget £60 per head without drinks. The lunch menu offered good value. Would we go again - yes as a treat for a special occasion.

Wonderful cocktails to start our meal, enjoyed my starter of goats cheese and beetroot, very tasty. Main course of Turkey was very disappointing, over cooked, dry and tasteless the stuffing was also dry hard and over cooked. The sweet of crème brûlée was very tasty. Surroundings were beautiful and staff very attentive. Just the main course let the whole time down.

My husband and I married at Galgorm in 2016 and we’ve stayed there a good few times. For my husbands 40th, I decided to book this sister hotel. Just wow, from the minute you walk in you get that ‘Galgorm collection’ feel. Staff are incredibly pleasant and welcoming, very helpful and are ready to make your stay as amazing as possible. We stayed in the suite and can honestly say the value for money on the package we had is amazing which included dinner, bed and breakfast as well as private hot tub and access to the spa. The hotel is beautiful, and as we were here in December it was decorated beautifully whilst still retaining its charm. The spa was a wonderful experience and very chilled - not as extensive as Galgorm however that was within our expectations and it’s a stand alone a fantastic amenity. The restaurant is fantastic, the food impeccable and the service just out of this world. I cannot stress enough how good service, for us, makes up 80% of the experience and the staff could not do enough for you and all with a fantastic attitude. They were attentive and couldn’t do enough. Huge shout as well to the staff who run breakfast service, so early in the morning and yet the usual and expected Galgorm collection charm. To sum it up - If you own/run a hotel then you should book a trip to Old Inn to see exactly how things should be done! Thank you for making a trip from England to our beloved Northern Ireland once again so fantastic. Recommend a walk to Helen’s Bay beach if weather permits!

We stayed at The Old Inn the night after our wedding for a mini-moon. We had a fantastic experience, the junior suite was great and our dinner/ drinks were delicious. All staff were professional and friendly and helped us mark our mini-moon, thank you! Would recommend and will be returning.

We decided to all go out for a family dinner for my son’s birthday as we’ve heard good recommendations from the old inn. We all decided to go for the Christmas menu. Starters were all very good and majority of the mains were as well although 2 people ordered medium rare steaks and they were very much rare may as well been blue. I manage a restaurant and I know the difference between a rare and a medium rare steak…a waitress took them away to get them cooked more although they were still not medium rare at all. Service was also very slow and not very efficient you couldn’t find any staff anywhere when you needed them. When we were still unhappy with the steaks no one tried to fix the problem it was just “sorry about that” quite disappointment as we were all excited to go. Overall the food looked great and the place looked very lovely and well decorated majority of the party said their mains were nice. We will be avoiding ordering a steak in future

Visited for Christmas afternoon tea and was very disappointed. The tomato and red pepper roll didn’t taste fresh and the plain scone was definitely not fresh. The little macaroon was lovely but the chocolate truffle was soo bitter - like biting into pure cocoa powder - not pleasant at all. The gingerbread person was inedible - not like any gingerbread I’ve ever tasted just claggy and unpleasant texture. All in all definitely not worth the £105 we paid for 3 of us. The setting and ambience was lovely but the food definitely let it down.
